Icom IC-7300 is the first direct sampling SDR (software defined radio) available from one of the 'big three' Japanese manufacturers. This helps it bring a whole new level of performance at an entry level price point, with a much more flexible configuration and a set of features only seen in top-of-the line equipment. WCS-7300 Programming Software Radio Option Setting Screens Set Mode 1, 2 and 3 Use these screens to customize other set menu features of the radio. Check boxes toggle features on or off, drop down menus list all selections and blank boxes for per-sonalized entry add to the ease of setting up your radio exactly like you want it.

Changes in this version
  • A SET MODE item is added to expand the transmission passband width for the SSB data mode up to “100 to 2900 Hz”.
  • A SET MODE item is added to make the USB SEND/USB Keying function active immediately after USB port connection. The Menu structure is changed accordingly.

The IC-7300 (and IC-7610) has a quality internal soundcard and is an excellent rig for both Winlink communications and other soundcard modes. One very useful feature is that the CAT, sound-card audio, and keying functions can all be passed via a single USB cable between the radio. Hi I recently purchased an IC-7300 and would like to take advantage of it's USB port. I am a new ham and this is my first rig and just spending a lot of money on the equipment has me tight on budget, so RS-BA1 software is not an option and neither is HRD. DXLab is a freeware suite of eight interoperating applications that can be installed independently in any order. When multiple applications are running, they sense each other's presence and automatically interoperate to support your Amateur Radio DXing activities.

To update the firmware

  • Thoroughly read Section 8. USING AN SD CARD and Section 15.
    UPDATING THE FIRMWARE of the FULL MANUAL and follow the instructions displayed on the IC-7300 LCD screen.
  • The firmware will be updated to the following versions.
    Main CPU: 1.30
    DSP Program: 1.07
    DSP Data: 1.00
    FPGA: 1.13

  1. AT STATION: A Raspberry Pi 3B / 3B+ / 4B (RPi) appliance running RemoteTx software (free download) at your station connected to your radio (USB) and the Internet (ethernet). (The RPi is NOT provided by RemoteTx.)
  2. REMOTE CONTROL CLIENT: A mobile phone, laptop or tablet running a compatible Internet browser with broadband or LTE cellular Internet access.
  3. An active RemoteTx service SUBSCRIPTION linked to the operator’s call sign. This connects the radio station and the remote operator.
